Location: Ystrad Mynach (with a requirement to travel across Caerphilly County Borough)
Salary: £27,254 – £29,540 (pro rata if working fewer than 37 hours per week)
Hours: 37 hours per week, although applications to work 30–37 hours will be considered
Contract: Until 31 March 2028 (with a possible further 2 years subject to funding extension from Caerphilly County Borough Council)
Join us in helping the next generation to live and work through the medium of Welsh! Menter Iaith Caerffili is seeking a Welsh Language Childcare Support Officer to lead on developing the use of Welsh within a range of childcare settings across Caerphilly County Borough. The role will be key in supporting providers to increase their Welsh-medium provision through practical support, training, resource development, and staff mentoring. The post is funded through an agreement with Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The successful applicant will:
- Deliver a support programme to at a range of at least 15 childcare settings to increase their use of Welsh
- Develop and deliver relevant training for the early years workforce
- Assess workforce language skills and identify development needs
- Support the development of Welsh-language rich childcare environments
- Work collaboratively with partners to promote bilingualism within the sector
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of the support provided
- Promote the successes and progress of the programme
Essential requirements:
- Excellent Welsh and English language skills (spoken and written)
- Experience of working in the childcare or early years education sector, with a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Early Years or a relevant equivalent
- Excellent organisational, communication, and partnership-working skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel
